I am available to teach classes that focus on self-care or basic massage skills for friends and family. Sometimes I schedule open classes, but I am always available to hold these workshops for clubs, student groups, community organizations, church groups and professional settings. If you've ever wanted more of the people you know to be able to work on your tight neck & shoulders or sore hands or achy feet, small group classes are a great low-cost way to improve health and wellbeing in your community or workplace.
TREAT YOUR OWN HEADACHES
Tension Headaches are an everyday reality for way too many of us! This class starts with basic headache prevention self-care and builds to using a variety of hands-on skills and systems of understanding to treat common patterns of muscular tension that cause tension headaches. This class is tailored to the specific headache patterns of the participants who show up, so everyone will leave better equipped to reduce both the frequency and intensity of their own personal headaches.
PREVENTING CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME (CTS) & REPETITIVE STRAIN INJURIES (RSI)
Far too many of us find ourselves with our hands tired or tingling at the end of a hard week. In this class, we talk about the causes and early warning signs of these too-frequently debilitating injuries, and then learn strategies for reversing these injuries through a combination of self-care, medical care and postural & ergonomic shifts in our lives. We will practice hands-on self-care strategies, using heat, cold, stretches and self-massage.
MASSAGE FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY:
LEARN THE BASICS
Learn basic skills for working on the neck, shoulders, arms, hands & back of the people in your life who need it, while they learn to work on you! This class is a hands-on practical class to teach you basic "bread-and-butter" massage technique that just about anybody could use, while also learning how to communicate effectively around both giving and receiving massage.
Would you like to learn how to massage your pregnant partner's feet like a professional? Or have skills to ease your best friend's headache? Private lessons are also available, and they're a lot of fun!
Do you want to learn to be even more excellent to your pregnant partner? In this class we will learn and practice basic "bread-and-butter" massage skills and some excellent comfort measures to use during labor (at the hospital or at home). This class will prepare you to take better care of yourself and your partner.
